Cal Sailing Club officers

Cal Sailing Club officers run the cooperative, each taking responsibility for one aspect of the club's operations. Each is a voting member of the executive committee, or Ex-Com. They are elected by the membership every six months.

Excom

Commodore: Allan Champion
The commodore is responsible for the smooth overall operation of the club, and acts as the club's spokesperson and representative.

Vice Commodore: Heidi Kearsley
The vice commodore is responsible for memberships, publicity, and publication of the club's newsletter, "The Floating Bottle."

First Vice Commodore: Auric Hornemann & Carl Caven
The first vice commodore is responsible for maintaining the club's fleet of dinghies.

Second Vice Commodore: Rob Miller & Clayton Seward
The second vice commodore is responsible for maintaining the club's fleet of windsurfing equipment.

Third Vice Commodore: Brian Buchanan and Edward Anelli
The third vice commodore is responsible for maintaining the club's fleet of keelboats.

Rear Commodore: David Fraser & Mai Luo
The rear commodore is responsible for the smooth functioning of the club's training of members.

Port Captain: Michael Scalet
The port captain is responsible for the club's on-shore facilities -- the clubhouse and boatyard -- and for hiring, training and supervising dayleaders for the club's day-to-day operations.

Secretary: Jennifer Kroon
The secretary keeps the club's records, including minutes of meetings; and keeps the club's various licenses, registrations and certificates up to date.

Treasurer: Peter Kuhn
The treasurer is responsible for the all the fiscal activities of the club, such as paying bills and recording and depositing income.

Committee Chairs

The Cal Sailing Club has a number of committees (usually of one) that take care of activities that require more involvement or expertise than the ExCom members. The committee chairs are designated by the Commodore.

A reason to never miss a General Membership Meeting.

Banquet chair: Jennifer Kirkland
A gourmet chef who prepares a feast for every General Membership Meeting.

Cruising Chair: Allan Champion
Really gets around

Decorator Chair: Pauline Kuykendall
Things need decorating sometimes.

First-Aid Chair: Bob Hood
The First Aid Chair is in charge of assisting the port-captain with first-aid training for dayleaders, keeping the clubhouse first-aid supplies stocked, and assisting with sailing-related first-aid questions that may arrise at the club.

Laser and Byte Chair: Gunther Weber
Person responsible for anything that has to do with the laser and byte fleet.

Membership chair: Tyler Elliott
Overseer of the club's membership database.

Motor maintenance chair: Riley Kuhn
Fixes outboards and just about anything else around the place.

Sail maintenance chair: Peter Bazcek
Lower that jib at the dock, or else...

Sail Rating Chair: Mark Yampanis
The person to know when you want to obtain one of the club's advanced sailing ratings.

Social chair: Michael Nielsen
Runs the barbecues on Open Houses, and organizes the club's social activities.

Sunday Dinghy Racing Chairs: Gary Farber and Alistair Boettiger
Alistair Boettiger and Gary Farber Organize Sunday Bahia and JY dinghy racing. Responsible for administering the race rules test, passage of which is required to be a racing skipper. The email link will reach both race chairs.

Swag Chair: Jane Morson
Wrangles amazing discounts on sailing and windsurfing gear for club members.

Windsurfing Board Repair Chair: Sofien Sehiri
Resin Master

Windsurfing donation and equipment chair: Dave Macfarlane
Brings life back into old equipment, and coordinates donations from our friends in the Windsurfing business.

Windsurfing Events Chair!!!!: Lori Taguma
Keeps the CSC windsurfing events calendar packed with fun and adventure.

Windsurfing locker chair: Isabella La Rocca

Windsurfing Sail Repair chair: Mitsu
Keeps the Club's windsurfing sails in top condition.

Windsurfing Teaching Chair: Rob Weinberg
Directs the windsurfing teaching program at CSC. Schedules instructors and gets them out on the water.

Windsuring Rating Chair: Ardaan Locht
Who to contact for your Senior Windsurfing rating.

Women's chair: Caryl Woulfe
Coordinates teaching programs for women sailors of all levels, who would like to learn from other female sailors.

YRA liaison: Jamuel Starkey
Coordinates and serves as CSC's delegate to the Yacht Racing Association of San Francisco Bay, the primary organizer of yacht racing on the Bay and Northern California/Pacific coast. Please contact him if you'd like more information on how to campaign your yacht under the CSC burgee in the upcoming racing season.
